1 ESPR enters into force 18 Jul 2024 In force

What it is: A passport reached through a data carrier such as a QR code, linked to a persistent product identifier. Data uses open standards. A back-up copy sits with an independent service provider. Mandatory for a product group only after a delegated act, at least 18 months later.
Who sets it: European Union
Who it affects: Companies placing covered products on the EU market.
How we solve it: dpp.cloud creates the passport from your product data (PIM or ERP): one QR per product or per single unit, on a white-label page without app or login.

Limit: Our status as an independent service provider is not settled yet.

2 EU registry live, rules applied 20 Jul 2026 · rules since 6 Aug 2026 In force

Not covered by dpp.cloud Implementing Reg. (EU) 2026/1778

What it is: The Commission's DPP registry went live with a testing environment. At customs, imported products covered by a DPP rule must show a registry registration number.
Who sets it: European Union (Commission)
Who it affects: Companies placing covered products on the EU market, once a rule applies to their group.
How we solve it: Registry registration for dpp.cloud customers is not settled yet.

Batteries

What it is: A QR code on every battery. A battery passport for EV batteries, light means of transport batteries and industrial batteries above 2 kWh.
Who sets it: European Union
Who it affects: Manufacturers and importers of batteries.
How we solve it: Battery template with the QR and the passport page, generated from your data.

Limit: The battery data itself comes from the manufacturer.

2 Due diligence obligations move 18 Aug 2027 In force

Not covered by dpp.cloud Regulation (EU) 2025/1561

What it is: Only the due-diligence obligations were postponed. The passport and the QR date did not move.
Who sets it: European Union
Who it affects: Manufacturers and importers of batteries.
How we solve it: Not a passport duty. dpp.cloud does not solve it.

Who sets it: European Union
Who it affects: Large companies selling apparel and footwear.
How we solve it: Separate duty, not a passport duty. dpp.cloud does not solve it.

2 Commission plans to adopt the apparel act Q1 2027 (planned) Planned

What it is: The delegated act that fixes the passport data points for textiles and apparel.
Who sets it: European Union (Commission)
Who it affects: Brands, producers and importers of apparel.
How we solve it: You can set up product data and codes ahead of the act and adapt once the data points are fixed.

Limit: The data points are not final.

3 Passport applies, earliest Not before about end of 2028 (indicative) Planned

What it is: The passport becomes mandatory for apparel at least 18 months after the act enters into force.
Who sets it: European Union

Limit: No start date has been fixed. We do not give one.

4 Ban on destroying unsold apparel and footwear: medium-sized companies 19 Jul 2030 Fixed date

What it is: The ban reaches medium-sized companies.
Who sets it: European Union
Who it affects: Medium-sized companies selling apparel and footwear.
